Tired of juggling spreadsheets, notebooks, and Artisan just to track your roasts?

  • 📋 Scattered notes across apps, paper, and Google Sheets
  • 🔍 Can't compare roasts or track what changed
  • 📉 No way to connect inventory, roasting, and tasting data
  • ⏰ Complex tools that take hours to learn

RoastSource replaces them all. Inventory, roast profiles, tasting notes, blend recipes, and brewing guides — in one app that works offline and runs in your browser.

🔁

Repeat what worked

Start your next batch from any past roast or saved recipe, or roast another batch of the same coffee set up the same way.

☕

Roast to cup, connected

Every rating sits on the roast that made it. The Roast Quality Score and a predicted cup show how a roast should taste before you brew it.

🔧

Any roaster, no lock-in

From a popcorn popper to a drum: 40+ machines. Your history isn’t tied to one brand’s app, so it comes with you when you change roasters.

Three styles of Coffee Roasters

Home roasters don't all roast the same way. RoastSource lets you pick how much detail you see during a roast and switch any time — your beans, history, and ratings stay the same. Only the view changes.

🔥
Craft
Craft mode
“I roast by smell, sight, and sound. I want to enjoy it — not spend all my time staring at the app.”
You lead with your senses. You've been at this long enough to know the smell, the color, and the crack when you hear them. You don't need an app to tell you it's time — you need one that trusts your instincts and remembers what you did.
What you want
  • Your senses lead. The app follows.
  • A clean screen that doesn't compete with the roaster
  • Tap a milestone, keep going — no forms, no prompts, no homework
  • Save the settings that worked — heat, fan, and time — and run your own recipe again just the same
  • A simple “did I like it?” rating, not a cupping worksheet
  • The roast you loved, findable again in one tap
  • Works offline — no account, no setup
📖
Journey
Journey mode · the default
“I know what I should do. I want to get better at knowing how to do it.”
You know the milestones but want the roadmap between them. You've done enough roasts to have opinions — now you want each batch to teach you something you can use next time.
What you want
  • Your call each batch — keep it simple with Quick Roast, or follow a guided Adaptive roadmap you can learn from
  • A growing library of your own recipes — named, saved, and refined as you learn what works
  • To see what changed between two roasts, without digging
  • Predicted cup scores so you're never starting from a blank page
  • Plain-language answers to “what does that number mean?”
  • Leading you from an okay batch to one that is almost perfect
🔬
Science
Science mode
“I want every data point, my own recipes, and a profile that reacts to what's actually happening in the roaster.”
You treat every batch as an experiment. Sometimes you run your own tried-and-true recipe. Sometimes you start from a RoastSource profile that adapts to your bean, your environment, and the way the roast is actually going. Either way, you want every metric visible and every decision yours.
What you want
  • Quick, Adaptive, or your own recipe — run whichever the batch calls for
  • Your own recipes, run your way — prompt by prompt, heat, fan, and time
  • RoastSource-generated profiles that adapt live — the app watches RoR, phase timing, and your logged temps, then nudges you if the roast is drifting
  • Every metric on screen, live — no digging, no second tab
  • Artisan .alog & CSV import coming soon — alongside your native roasts
  • Post-roast analysis of every batch, and any two roasts side by side
  • Control — not suggestions dressed up as decisions

All three views come with Home. Start in Craft, drop into Journey when you want to learn, switch to Science when you want to dig in. Your data carries across every mode.

📑

Your roasts, your recipes

Adaptive profiles are a starting point — not a requirement. If you've already dialed in a profile that works, RoastSource treats your recipe as the source of truth. Create it, save it, run it again, tweak it. The app follows along instead of trying to guess for you.

Create & save your own recipes

  • Enter your own heat, fan, and time settings as a named roast recipe — your personal profile library, built from the roasts you already trust
  • Save any roast from your history as a reusable recipe in one tap — the one that worked becomes the one you run next time
  • Name and organize recipes by bean, roast level, or however you think about them — “Ethiopia City+” or “Monday morning espresso”
  • Edit any saved recipe — recent saves are kept, so you can roll back an edit that didn't work out

Eight modules. One app. Zero complexity.

Plan the roast before you start

Tell RoastSource about your bean, your roaster, and the cup you're after, and Adaptive Roast works out a starting plan. Afterwards the Roast Quality Score shows how the batch went and where to focus next time.

📝
1 · Tell it your starting point

Pick your bean (origin / country and processing), your roaster and batch size, and the roast level or flavor you're aiming for. Got moisture or density readings? Add them for extra precision — totally optional.

🧮
2 · Get a plan for your machine

Heat and fan steps with target first-crack, development, and drop times. After first crack, a drop window counts down on screen.

📈
3 · Roast, then refine

After a few roasts on your machine, Adaptive Roast compares your weight loss with the target and nudges the next plan to close the gap.

Fewer batches spent dialing in, more cups you actually love. Included with Home.

Why I Built RoastSource

I roast on a Fresh Roast — on the back patio when it's warm, in the garage when it rains, in the basement when it's too cold outside. What hooked me was how much origin, processing, and roast level change the cup: a light Ethiopian full of blueberry, a wet-hulled Sumatran that keeps getting better the darker you take it.

Tracking it all was the mess. Notebooks, spreadsheets, phone notes — I'd nail a roast and then couldn't repeat it. What I found was built for commercial drum roasters or was too complicated for how home roasters work, so I built the app I wanted: beans, roasts, cups, and blends in one place, so once you nail a roast you can do it again.
