RoastSource is a Progressive Web App (PWA) built for home coffee roasters. It works on any device with a browser — phone, tablet, or desktop — and can be installed for offline use. RoastSource helps you track your green coffee inventory, log roast sessions with real-time temperature profiling, score your roasts using SCA cupping protocols, explore brewing methods, create custom blends, research equipment, and dive deep into coffee science and origins.
Whether you are roasting your first batch on a popcorn popper or dialing in profiles on a Bullet R1, RoastSource gives you the tools to improve consistently and enjoy the journey.
Track your entire bean collection. Vendor auto-detection recognizes Sweet Maria's, Happy Mug, Bodhi Leaf, and others — bulk import a whole order in one paste. Search, filter, and track freshness across origins, processes, and vendors.
Your roast-day command center. Adaptive profiles tuned to your roaster, roast level, batch size, ambient temperature, and line voltage. Edit or delete saved roasts and browse a date-grouped history. Profile import from Artisan, RoasTime, and Cropster is coming in v7.0 — imports will live in their own tab so they never mix with your roast log.

Home roasters don't all roast the same way. RoastSource lets you pick how much you see during a roast and switch any time from Settings. Your beans, history, ratings, and blends stay the same — only the view changes.

You know the milestones but want the roadmap between them. Journey mode gives you a suggested path you can learn from, a clear picture of what changed between one roast and the next, and plain-language answers when a number leaves you wondering what it meant.

You treat every batch as an experiment. Science mode puts every live metric on screen, runs your own recipes prompt by prompt, and gives you real comparisons after the roast — control, not suggestions dressed up as decisions. And with v7.0, it will import what you've built in Artisan, RoasTime, and Cropster.

Craft mode users can tap “Discover more” in Settings to temporarily preview Journey and Science features without changing their saved mode.
Adaptive profiles are a starting point, not a requirement. If you've already dialed in a roast that works, RoastSource treats your recipe as the source of truth — enter it, save it, run it, tweak it, and reuse it across every session. You shouldn't have to re-enter years of data just to use the app.
Open Inventory and add your green coffee beans manually or import from a vendor receipt (Sweet Maria's, Happy Mug, Burman, Coffee Shrub, and more).
Go to Settings > My Roasting Equipment and add your roaster with brand, model, batch capacity, and probe info. This enables adaptive profiling.
Open Roasting, select a bean from inventory, and start logging your roast — or import a prior roast (Artisan, RoasTime, Cropster & more — coming in v7.0). Mark first crack and end roast.
After roasting and brewing, use Ratings to cup your coffee with a Brief 100-point score or full SCA protocol. Compare results over time.
RoastSource stores all data locally in your browser by default. This means your data lives on the device you are using — it is not automatically saved to the cloud. If your browser cache is cleared, or you switch devices, your data may be lost unless you have a backup.
On your current computer: Go to Settings > Data Sync and choose a local folder on your machine to save your RoastSource data. This creates a backup file you can restore from at any time. We recommend backing up regularly — especially after roast sessions or big inventory changes.
Use your own cloud: Choose a cloud-synced folder such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or iCloud Drive as your backup location — available to everyone today. Your data is reachable from any device that shares the same cloud folder, and changes sync through your cloud provider.
Automatic cloud sync Expert · coming: Zero-setup sync across all your devices — no folder to configure — arrives with the Expert tier.
⚠️ Important: RoastSource data is stored in your browser's local storage. If you clear your browser data, use private/incognito mode, or reset your device, your data will be lost. Always keep a backup using the Local Folder option. Backing up takes seconds and protects hours of roasting logs, ratings, and inventory.
