Walk through the complete roasting workflow in RoastSource — from selecting your roaster and coffee to logging temperature milestones and saving your session history.
From the main menu, tap the Roasting module. This is your roast-day command center — where you log every session from charge to cool.
Choose from your saved roaster profiles. Each profile stores your equipment details — brand, model, type (drum, fluid-bed, hybrid), batch capacity, and probe capabilities. If you haven't set one up yet, there's a link to create your first roaster profile.
Log the roasting environment. Enter ambient temperature, select your roasting location (indoor, outdoor, garage, etc.), and optionally record humidity. If you've calibrated a location, RoastSource shows your first-crack time offset for consistency.
Select the coffee you're roasting from your inventory. Filter by region — Africa, Americas, Asia & Pacific — then drill into a specific country and pick the exact bean. You'll see remaining weight, processing method, and your best rating at a glance.
Enter your dose in grams. RoastSource shows your roaster's optimal batch range and warns if you're outside it. Optionally select a storage bin for the roasted output. Your inventory will automatically deduct the green weight used.
Choose whether to log temperatures during this roast. Select Yes to configure your temperature source, or No to skip and proceed without temp logging. If Yes, pick from Roaster Display, External Meter, or USB Auto-Logger based on your equipment.
RoastSource analyzes the selected bean and presents a roast-level spectrum — from Light (Cinnamon, 385°F / 196°C) through Medium (City+, 415°F / 213°C) to Dark (French, 460°F+ / 238°C+). The recommended range for your specific bean and equipment is highlighted. Choose a roast goal like “Bright & Complex” or “Balanced & Clean.”
With everything set, you're ready to roast. The session screen shows your bean, dose, target level, roaster, and location. Log temperature readings, mark first crack, track development time, and record notes as you go. When complete, save the session — it becomes part of your permanent roast history.
